E-mail on Your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

Note: These setup instructions are for Apple devices running software version 4.0. 

Apple's iPhone comes with a built in e-mail client. Use the directions below to configure Mail to access your SSE Riga e-mail.
  1. If this is the first account you are setting up on iPhone, tap Mail and go to step 5.

    If you have already set up a previous Mail account ,     go to Step 2.
  2. From the Home screen, tap Settings.


  3. From the Settings screen select Mail, Contacts, Calendars



  4. On the following screen select Add Account...



  5. On the add account screen select Other.
    Please note that tapping the 'Gmail' button will automatically configure Gmail IMAP and these settings may not work for SSE Riga e-mail.



  6. In the New Account window fill out your account information.
    The Address should be written in the form "nsurname@sseriga.edu".
    The Password has to match your current SSE Riga e-mail password.
    The Description field is optional, however you should write down something to distinguish this e-mail account as your SSE Riga account.
    When done press Save.



  7. On the following screen press IMAP.
    Under Incoming Mail Server tap Host Name, User Name and Password fields:
    The Host Name should be set to "imap.gmail.com".
    The User Name should be set to your user name in the form "nsurname@sseriga.edu".
    The Password should be set your SSE Riga e-mail password.



    After these settings have been entered scroll down until the Outgoing Mail Server information can be seen.
    Once again fill out the Host Name, User Name and Password fields:
    The Host Name should be set to "smtp.gmail.com".
    The User Name should be set to your user name in the form "nsurname@sseriga.edu".
    The Password should be set your SSE Riga e-mail password. 


    When all of the above settings have been entered press Save. 
  8. Mail will verify your settings by connecting to the server. You should have an available wireless internet connection for this to happen successfully.
  9. And you're done! You should now be able to receive and send e-mails from your iPhone.
